Escalating Need for Fuel Efficiency behind Growth of Global Automotive Fuel Delivery and Injection Systems Market

The global automotive fuel delivery and injection systems market is projected to expand at a 4.90% CAGR from 2015 to 2021, states business intelligence firm Transparency Market Research. In 2014, the market value was pegged at US$54.6 bn, which is forecast to increase to US$72.7 bn by 2021.

Some of the major factors driving the automotive fuel delivery and injection systems market are:
  • The rising demand for better utilization of fuel
  • The mounting prices of fuel
  • The increase in government regulations pertaining to vehicular emissions
  • The surge in technological advancement in fuel delivery and injection systems
  • The rising demand for alternate fuel and fuel injection systems in two-wheelers
  • The ability of fuel injection systems to reduce the amount of unburned fuel in the engine, thereby optimizing the mileage of the vehicle.

Maserati Recalls Convertibles over Fuel Delivery Line Issues

Earlier this year, Italian luxury car manufacturer Maserati recalled the 2016 GranTurismo and GranTurismo Convertible models owing to a problem with the fuel delivery line that may lead to a fuel leak. The company stated that the affected vehicles were equipped with a non-galvanized main fuel delivery line and that is likely to corrode, resulting in a fuel leak. In the presence of an ignition source, the fuel leak can heighten the risk of a fire. The affected models of the 2016 Maserati GranTurismo Convertible and the 2016 Maserati GranTurismo were manufactured between September and November 2015. An estimated 33 vehicles in the US were affected and recalled.

While Maserati did notify the owners and dealers replaced the main delivery fuel line with no added charge, instances such as these have a negative impact on the global automotive fuel delivery and injection systems market.

UPS Awards New CNG Fuel Systems Contract to Agility

The leading producers and designer of natural gas fuel storage and delivery systems for buses and heavy duty trucks, Agility Fuel Systems announced earlier this month that logistics company UPS (United Parcel Service) has ordered the new Behind-the-Cab CNG fuel systems by California-based Agility for its delivery vehicles. More than 1,700 heavy duty UPS trucks will be fitted with Agility’s natural gas fuel systems, which promises superior packaging efficiency by fitting up to six inches closer to the vehicle to ensure enhanced aerodynamics.

The Behind-the-Cab fuel delivery technology is just an example of how players within the automotive fuel delivery and injection systems market have been developing innovative, more efficient, and sustainable solutions to transform the transportation sector.

Some of the other prominent players contributing towards the expansion of the global automotive fuel delivery and injection systems market are Ti Automotive Inc., Continental AG, Delphi Automotive Plc, Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd., MSD Ignition, Magneti Marelli S.P.A, Lucas TVS Ltd., Denso Corporation, Robert Bosch GmbH, and Edelbrock, LLC.
